Fiction Fantasy being produced in partnership with illustrator Rebecca Head
MOUNT VERNON, VA – aois21 publishing, LLC announces today that they have secured the rights to release Philip J. Sipkov’s third book, the fantasy fiction book, The Magnus and the Maiden.
The Magnus and the Maiden is the story of a group of intrepid youths raised on a hidden island and led by the maiden Kasmira that venture into the mysterious mainland. There they encounter the Magnus, the warrior emperor of the mainland and the keeper of the Cards. Of all the mysteries they seek, it is the Cards and the wisdom granted to the keeper, that intrigues them most.
This is the third work by Philip J. Sipkov, the first Creative to sign with aois21 after our soft launch in December 2013. His book of poetry, Early Thoughts of a Young Man, was released as an eBook in March 2014 after an initial print run in 1974. His second book, Escape From Destiny: A Biographical Sketch of Captain George E. Prujan, was released as an eBook on Veterans’ Day 2014 after an initial print release in 1986. This will be Phil’s first release coming only in electronic format.
Phil is partnering on this project with illustrator Rebecca Head. Rebecca is using her talent to bring each of Phil’s characters to life and design a stunning cover. Born and raised outside of Dallas, Rebecca spent 8 years in Washington, DC, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Studio Art from American University. She currently lives in Chicago and enjoys drawing, museums, sunsets and long walks on the beach. You can view her art at crumpetfighter.tumblr.com and rebeccahead.tumblr.com.
A native of Washington, D.C., Phil's life has revolved around two passions - books and horses. He refers to them as the indoors and outdoors of his existence. He was a bookseller that eventually became a manager of a small bookstore. He was a stable hand or "mucker," an exercise boy/rider, and a groom for members of the foxhunting clubs. In time he managed a small riding academy with his wife and daughter. Through it all, the books proved to be his mainstay. He has been an employee of the Library of Congress for the past 27 years. As for the horses - they are still his passion - but not his paycheck.
"This story has been on Phil’s mind for sometime and we are fortunate to be able to bring it print,” said Keith F. Shovlin, aois21’s executive officer. "Coupled with the artistic ability of Rebecca, The Magnus and The Maiden will be a feast for the eyes both in word and image.”
