aois21 publishing to release third book in HIVE series

Story of Earth Empire vs. insectoid race will continue in new novella

MOUNT VERNON, VA – aois21 media, LLC have secured the rights to release the third book in James D. King’s sci-fi series HIVE, the novella HIVE: A Matter of Gravity.

HIVE: A Matter of Gravity continues the story that began in the first novella of the series, HIVE: First Contact. In this story, the Hive threat reaches deeper into the Earth Empire. Now all that stands in the way is the Space Navy manned by brave but young crews. Will the unlikely combination of an old space marine, tired of living, and a young naval ensign, fearful of dying, find a way to defeat the Hive and save humanity?

This is the fourth work by James D. King. He cowrote the true crime story Ghost Burglar with Jack Burch for Savage Press in 2013, and it was followed by the 2015 novella HIVE: First Contact and HIVE: Battle at the Dog Star in 2016. King’s writing has also appeared in the 2015 aois21 annual as well as in American School & University and Art Theft Archive newsletter.

The first and second books in the series are now available in limited-edition print runs, the first of which includes a short story on the origins of the HIVE species.

King is a retired police detective and served in the U.S. Navy as an electronics tech during the Vietnam conflict. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s in Sociology and Psychology and later embarked on a number of careers, building a wealth of experience in the process. A widower after 38 years of marriage, he spends his time writing, volunteering at a local bookstore, and caring for his children.

"We have enjoyed following King’s adventures so far and we’re not ready for them to end,” said Keith F. Shovlin, aois21’s publisher. "We hope that A Matter of Gravity will be another solid follow-up in the series and we look forward to sharing it with you.”
